Hi, my name is
Mandy Dukovan
I hold a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, so I'm passionate about not only helping a couple make their dream wedding a reality, but seeing them begin their lives together. I was born and raised in Wyoming, so I'm a small town girl at heart, but I fell in love with California when I moved here in 2008 to work for Discovery Land Company. I have worn many different career hats, but my passion has always been in hospitality. It's where my love for interacting with others intertwines so well with my love for great food. I was lucky enough to work for a venue that hosted many of COJ's weddings and was always in awe of their attention to every detail. I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to join this amazing team in creating beautiful and fun filled weddings and events.
My greatest skill when it comes to wedding planning is:
I'm very calm. Even in high-stress environments and situations (not uncommon in the wedding industry), I stay relaxed and do my best work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
What I love most about wedding planning is:
My favorite moment is when the bride and groom walk into the event space for the first time. You can see the joy and relief all over their faces. It's special because they are seeing their vision for a dream wedding come to life. I love knowing that I played a part in that.
My dream dinner guest and why:
the entire cast of the movie Bridesmaids. It's my all-time favorite movie and I think they are all such funny women. It would be a guaranteed good time!
My bucket-list vacation spot and who I'd bring:
The Golden Girls cruise...I would go with anyone who loves the Golden Girls as much as I do!
If I could get away with it, I would...
rob a bank.
If I could go back in time, I would go to...
the 60's. I took a class in college that was the history of America through the 1960s and I feel as if this was a really pivotal time in the US.
If I could have any superpower, it would be...
time travel.
My spirit animal is a
Golden Retriever. I can be very calm and relaxed, am also easily excitable. I'm also incredibly loyal, sometimes to a fault.
The 3 words that describe me best:
Funny, calm, loyal.
The TV show I can not miss is
This Is Us. I have 2 young kids at home, so I'm eternally grateful for Hulu.
If I could trade lives with anyone for a day, it would be...
anyone with a very large bank account.
The advice I live by:
treat people the way you want to be treated. Always be kind because you never know what battles people are fighting each and every day.
If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be...
sushi or chicken caesar salad.
I never leave home without...
my phone!
My hidden talent:
I don't know that I would call it a talent, but I am very intuitive. I usually know when things are bothering people and can read people's energy and non-verbal communication really well.
The last book I read:
Little Blue Truck to my son at bedtime last night!
